Fleet Owner pleads guilty to FMCSA bribery

The owner of a small trucking company based out of Massachusetts has plead guilty to charges of attempting to bribe a public official. The owner was trying to persuade an FMCSA officer not to enter a negative compliance review on one of his vehicles last May by offering him $1,000.

The six-truck company has a less-than-stellar service record with a 53% out of service rate and 12 inspections over the last two years.

In exchange for his guilty plea, the prosecution has recommended a punishment of 12 months of probation, 6 of which will be spent in home confinement; An additional 24 months after that of supervised release; and a fine of $100.
