Hearing On Parks Bills Less Than Idyllic

What was meant to be a hearing concerning the closure of public lands during the recent government shutdown became, at times, merely a platform in which to criticize the current administration. One compared President Obama to King George, another made a jab at big government in general. There were a few instances of togetherness, with Rep. Steve Daines, R-Mont., voicing his pleasure at the fact that there was some bipartisan support for his proposed legislation.

Some Democrats did not share Daines’ happiness- considering the topic of the hearing one that was twisted into a partisan extreme.
